Sony Xperia Z vs. Samsung Galaxy S3, Is Samsung Sweating?

Sony, the electronic giant mobile company from Japanese, just announced its new android flagship quad-core smartphone at CES this year, the Xperia Z. Coming with a 5-inch 1080p screen, and other powerful specs, it declares that Sony will be hoping this new Android handset can deliver the scalps of high-end rival devices such as Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S3, the world's bestselling smartphone in 2012 and owns a lot of new features.

Has Sony finally crafted a flagship able to go toe-to-toe with the competition of 2012's best? Will Sony Xperia Z successfully defeat Samsung Galaxy S III to be the leader of Android in 2013? Let’s have a look.

Size
Samsung galaxy s3 have a 4.8inch screen, while Xperia Z has a 5inch screen.  The Xperia Z is slightly longer, but roughly the same width. Sony's handset is also notably thinner than the Galaxy s3.

Weight
Due to the Xperia Z has a full pane of glass on both the front and the back, The Xperia Z is slightly heavier than S3, with a weight of 146g. The Galaxy S III's back is plastic, so it only have a weight of 133g.

Display
If you want to enjoy HD videos on your phone, obviously, The Xperia Z is your better choice, which has a 1080p Reality Display with a solution of 1920x1280, 443 pixels per inch (ppi). At the same time, Samsung Galaxy S III only has a solution of 1280×720, 306ppi.

Processor
Sony Xperia Z runs on the 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro quad core processor, while Samsung Galaxy S III gets two different versions: a globally 1.4GHz Samsung’s own Exynos Quad core processor and a 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 dual core processor for US exclusively. For most customers, their performance will be more than adequate.

RAM
Xperia Z features 2GB RAM. The galaxy s3 also gets two different models, 2GB RAM for the North American, 1GB RAM for the international market.

Storage
For Storage, The Xperia Z only comes in one 16 GB version while Samsung galaxy s3 offers its flagship in three different storage options. Although both of the phone supports expand the memories even further with an SD slot, I should say Samsung really win in this aspect.

Network connectivity

Both two devices are supporting 4G LTE network connectivity and HSPA+.

Camera
Both of the two smartphones get super cameras. The Xperia Z gets a 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera, while the Galaxy S III has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.9MP front camera. Besides, Xperia Z supports HDR shooting. Sony does a good job.

Battery
On paper, the Xperia Z has a battery of 2,330 mAh, slightly higher than Galaxy S III, which have a battery of 2100mAh. But many factors determine battery life, and the Xperia Z powers a display with over two million pixels.

The good news for the Xperia Z is that Sony has developed software called Battery STAMINA mode, which improves standby time by at least 4 times.

Intangibles
Xperia Z waterproof
The Xperia Z is waterproof and dust proof, so your phone is in safe if the phone unfortunate drop into a bathtub or toilet.

The Xperia Z runs Android 4.1 Jellybean, which is a slight disappointment since Android 4.2 is out in the wild. But Sony assures me it intends for the Xperia Z to get upgrades to 4.2 and the next iteration of Android (codenamed Key Lime Pie). Now Samsung have pulled out its 4.1.2 jelly bean update for the galaxy s3.

So which wins?
The Xperia Z actually looks good, and the device is set to arrive by the end of Q1. But Can the smartphone sell as well as the Samsung device? The answer we will reveal in the future. But the mobile phone industry is developing rapidly, rumors now also say that Samsung galaxy s4 might be released this May. Anyway, let us wait to see.

Good news to all Samsung galaxy s3 users, the international version of Samsung galaxy s3, which have been the world’s best-selling smartphone, now already received the much anticipated Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update over-the-air. Many major national carriers has released Android Jelly for the device, and other Carrier-branded versions like Verizon Wireless should be able to receive the update soon as Samsung is railroading updates for its devices. • Kies Device Once Kies recognizes the device you will see a screen stating new firmware is available.

  • Read through the Caution pop-up and, if you agree, click to populate the I have read all of the above information checkbox.
  • Read the Allow saving of information statement and select Allow saving or Proceed without saving and then click Start upgrade.

  • Then after a while the upgrade is completed.
  • If completed a data backup from your device to Kies prior to performing the update, you can now restore that data back to the device under the new Jelly Bean operating system
Here is another method I have find for you if you can’t wait the update anymore, the article which show you how to manually install Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update from website thedroidguy.com. What will introduce after Samsung launched Galaxy S3

Summary:  Samsung Galaxy S III is undoubtedly the most dazzling Android mobile in this year, but Samsung absolutely not satisfied with the status quo, now Let’s take a look what products Samsung going to launch in the future.

1.Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G headed to MetroPCS

Though the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G is a far cry from the high-end devices that are currently available in the market today, the handset still has quite a number of tricks up its sleeves that might want you to seriously consider jumping ship to MetroPCS. The carrier already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G will be offered at $459 off-contract and will give its users access to live television streaming. With the Dyle application preinstalled on the handset, users of the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G can stream television using the 4G network of the carrier even while on the go.

2.Galaxy Discover for TracFone.

The ultra-budget prepaid carrier doesn't currently offer any branded smartphones, so the Galaxy Discover could end up being its first. It's slated to get Android 4.0, Bluetooth 3.0, "ample" internal storage, and external expansion up to 32GB. This one looks a bit like an original Galaxy S, too, but features three capacitive buttons along the bottom instead of the classic four.

3.Galaxy Stellar for Verizon.

This is the phone that leaked last month as the "Jasper,” a Droid Charge successor that keeps the original's unusual pointy chin. It's tapped to get a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 2,100mAh battery, Android 4.0, and — of course — LTE.

4.Galaxy Stratosphere 2 for Verizon.

Samsung doesn't seem to have any intention of pushing QWERTY sliders globally, but American carriers are clearly still asking for them — and that's where the Stratosphere 2 comes into play. The follow-on to last year’s Stratosphere, this new model features global GSM roaming capability, SAFE approval to make IT departments happy, S Beam, and S Voice.

5.Galaxy Victory 4G LTE for Sprint.

Leaked several weeks ago under model number SPH-L300, the unwieldy name underpins a phone that will likely slot in underneath the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S III in Sprint's portfolio: Android 4.0, LTE support, NFC, a 5-megapixel camera, and WVGA display are all rumored to be on tap.

Now Windows Phone 8 is getting closer to its release date. Rumors have leaked that Samsung will release its series phone, include Samsung GT-I8370 Omnia(Marco)and Samsung GT-I8750 Omnia(Odyssey)”。

It remains to see what phone Samsung will bring to us.

Samsung galaxy s3 review

With the developing of the mobile Internet, Smart phones have become the most important mobile Internet access terminals. Users put forward higher requirements for all aspects of the smartphone. Samsung launched GALAXY S3 quad-core mobile phone earlier this summer which is a high-end hardware spec smartphone, and it's an impressive device with over 10 million units sold already. Rumors also say Samsung seems to be lining up a black version of the popular Galaxy S3 smartphone.

The screen of Samsung GALALXY S3 is the largest one of the highlights. In addition to 4.8 inches large screen size, the resolution is also reached to the highest standards in the current mobile phone - Standard HD specification, 1280x720 pixels, which means that if we watch 720p HD movies on the Samsung GALAXY S3, it can "point to point play. In addition, the Samsung S3 fuselage used the second-generation gorilla glass of Corning. Compared to the first generation, the wear resistance and strength raising a lot, but also thinner, more robust ability resistant to scratches.

The AMOLED display gives the S3 a longer lasting battery compared to, say, the HTC One X and it’s better looking but more power hungry Super LCD 2. All things considered, Samsung really knocked the display out of the park with this device. The screen looks absolutely beautiful without sucking the battery dry. Super AMOLED is also equipped with mDNIe (mobile Digital Natural Image engine) technology which let Mobile phone make respond to quickly.

Samsung GALALXY S3 uses Samsung's own quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Processor, you can operate more tasks instantly, there is also a substantial increase in its processing speed and energy saving compared to the dual-core. And enhanced graphics capabilities allow you to experience the silky smooth picture display. Compared to the Galaxy S2, S3 performance improves. The boot time become shorter, and the speed of application launch and web browsing has improved.

With a powerful quad-core performance in the Samsung GALALXY S3, the PIP function (Pop Up Play) can watch the video, while checking the mail, browse the Web or send text messages, but also allows video playback and custom sizes suspended in a variety of interface.
